XTRATUF II Boots
The thing about living in Southern California is that you can go boating and fishing year around. But in fall and winter months, it can get cold and damp on deck, and so a good pair of waterproof boots helps increase the comfort factor immensely.
This autumn I decided to try out a pair of the new XtraTuf II neoprene-lined deck boots. What a difference they make in keeping my tootsies toasty. With regular rubber boots, I need a pair of wool socks for insulation. Not necessary with XtraTuf IIs. Regular cotton socks work just fine.
These boots come in three versions – 15” high-rise and 7” mid-rise (which I chose) and 5” low-rise. All feature a 5mm foam lining, slip-resistant Chevron outsole with a ½” heel, and an X-Stabilizer for lateral support at the ankle. The exposed foam bootie at the top offers greater flexibility while keeping your lower legs dry.
Be aware that the neoprene makes these boots feel a bit snug at first, but the lining quickly forms to the shape of your feet, offering firm support, as well as warmth. There’s also a removable Nitracel EVA foam insole to help cushion your feet in rough conditions.
XtraTuf II boots are available only in men’s sizes 5-14, and they come in any color you want, as long as it’s brown. A pair of the 7″ mid-rise boots sell for $119.99 at muckbootsonline.com
