Concept’s South Florida roots resound from the 32 FE. One look at its profile and you can just picture it screaming through the Atlantic waves past South Beach, or bringing a well-heeled crew to a posh dockside eatery. But Concept likens the boat more to a versatile — albeit stylish — SUV. Below, its 24-degree-deadrise hull is primed for slicing through offshore waves at speed, perfect for getting anglers or divers to their favorite spots in a hurry. Above, a thoughtful use of space blurs the lines between bikini party and battlewagon. If your interests go toward the former, twin parallel benches and a plush forward console seat invite passengers to settle in and relax. At the helm, the backrest-equipped leaning post has room for two more. Aft, three more can join the crew on a foldaway bench. Should your interests skew toward the latter, tuck that bench away when the tanks or rods come out and remove those plush cushions, and the 32 quickly transforms. The standard transom cooler can be optioned to a livewell. Insulated fish boxes are located fore and aft. There’s also expansive bow storage, rod storage in both port and starboard inwales, four rod holders behind the helm seat, and a coaming bolster that wraps around the perimeter of the cockpit.

That’s just on our test boat. Concept is all about customization, evidenced by the fact that a real owner brought his personal boat to our test. Its fiberglass hardtop was his personal preference, as were the hull and vinyl colors, vinyl seat patterns, graphics and even the individual Concept logo. Building a total of about 100 boats a year, Concept aims to please.

Though a calm test day didn’t lend itself to a true, offshore test, I found the hull charged aggressively into the tightest of turns without even a hint of breaking loose or bucking unexpectedly. A pair of twin Verado 300 outboards pushed the boat onto plane in four seconds, powered it past 30 mph in six, and peaked at 65.6 mph.
