Ideal for a wide range of recreational boaters and commercial vessels across the world, the new AISLink CB1 Class B transceiver is introduced by survival gear specialist ACR Electronics, a Drew Marine Company.
ACR’s easy-to-use and reliable Class B Automatic Identification System (AIS) option sends and receives wireless navigational data to and from nearby boats and vessels including the vessel’s name, position, course or speed over ground, heading and rate of turn.
The competitively-priced transceiver has a small, rugged and waterproof design with multiple interfaces and low power consumption. It also has an internal GPS antenna, which makes an external antenna optional so users are able to save time on installation while also saving on space.
It features NMEA0183 and NMEA2000 data output which allows for seamless interaction with navigation systems.
Users are also able to place the transceiver in silent mode, providing both privacy and security as this enables users to turn off the transmission of identifying information while still seeing transmissions from other vessels with AIS.
Certified worldwide to the latest AIS regulations, the AISLink CB1 is extremely reliable with a number of convenient user features, and is appropriate for some commercial vessels requiring an AIS unit in order to comply with the new US Coast Guard mandate affecting most commercial vessels operating in US waters.
Gerry Angeli, President of ACR Electronics, said: “The Class B transceiver will ensure that you can see and be seen on the water, increasing navigational safety for boat owners and captains globally. It is perfect for areas of high congestion or for those times when visibility is poor. The ACR AIS transceivers offer high reliability, performance, and compliance with regulations at a competitive price. They facilitate faster communication and navigational planning especially when vessels are hidden or obstructed from radar.
“The ACR AISLink CB1, or our CA1 Class A option, are both appropriate for commercial vessels which will soon be required to install an AIS to comply with the new USCG mandate, with the type of system dependent on factors including the number of passengers, operating area and maximum speed.”
ACR’s new AIS product offering, which also includes its new premium AISLink CA1 Class A transceivers, further establishes the electronics manufacturer as an industry leader with the capabilities to provide a comprehensive portfolio of devices to the marine market place.
Committed to developing the next generation of survival products, ACR can now provide commercial captains and recreational boat owners worldwide with the ability to benefit from the exchange of vital navigational data between vessels and ports provided by the VHF digital transmissions enabled by AIS.
The bolstered product line includes a full range of AIS transceivers, Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacons (EPIRBs), Personal Locator Beacons (PLBs), Search and Rescue Transponders (SARTs), AIS Man Overboard Beacons, VHF radios, searchlights, rescue strobe lights, pyrotechnics and other safety accessories.
The AISLink CB1 is retailing in the US for about $900, while the MSRP for the AISLink CA1 is approximately $2,800.
