Bermuda Challenge Update
Chris Fertig of Statement Marine is getting ever closer to setting off on his quest of the Bermuda Challenge. If he makes it, Fertig’s Statement Marine 37 will be the first stern-drive-powered vessel to complete the challenge! Here’s a dispatch from the skipper himself:
_The suspension system adjustments are all complete, and the boat is now at Cummins MerCruiser Diesel in Charleston. CMD is making final propeller and drive height adjustments to try and get a little more performance out of the boat, and Simrad is completing the autopilot installation and going over all its equipment one final time to make sure everything is installed, operating correctly and properly adjusted for the run.
Once these final adjustments are made and we verify our final fuel burn figures with the boat weighted with the equipment and fuel we plan on taking on the run, we will be ready to go pending the right weather window.
I have a helicopter and photographer lined up in NYC to take pictures upon our departure on race day. I will call later today to follow up on this e-mail.
Thanks for your continued assistance.
