Heads turn when a Formula comes into view, but the 310 FX5 makes boaters’ noggins absolutely spin. Our test boat showed up in a vibrant metallic-blue Imron paint. That color accented the carbon-fiber dash, steering wheel and various articles of trim. At night, blue LED accent lighting gives the boat an inviting glow. The FX5 logo provides an accent of its own, adorning both cockpit upholstery and the snap-in carpeting.
Our test boat’s twin 380 hp Volvo Penta sterndrives rumbled to life with a throaty tone via through-hull exhausts. Those engines delivered on that promise. The 310 FX5 planed in 3.6 seconds, and topped out at 57.5 mph. Throttling was precise thanks to chromed Livorsi engine controls.
Comfort impressed us as well. The main cockpit features a double-wide helm seat, with individual flip-up bolsters, plus a double-wide lounge to port. An amidships entertainment center, with sink and optional drawer fridge, is flanked by an adjoining J-shaped lounge. A rumble seat overlooks the swim platform. The shared seatbacks lower to complete a sun pad. Too much sun? Retire below where a plush Ultraleather dinette lounge easily converts to a double-berth. A portside galley, with Corian countertop, sink and microwave, and molded head compartment with standard VacuFlush toilet, complete the accommodations.
