Manitou 25 Legacy SRS
There’s a lot to like about the Legacy 25 SRS, but we’d argue one of the boat’s strongest features is simply Manitou’s obsessive attention to detail. Check out the split rear seating (SRS) configuration aft. Four separate seats are built into twin, molded fiberglass platforms to port and starboard. Aft-facing forward seats are plush and laid back, with cup holders and storage trays built into the armrests. Directly across, forward-facing aft seats allow face-to-face conversation. Add standard side-mount pedestal tables and you’ve got twin dinettes. Prefer two big recliners? The aft seat’s backrests pivot over on beefy, stainless-steel arms and neatly fill the gap. It’s an elegant solution that avoids loose filler cushions and their associated storage concerns.
More examples are found elsewhere. At the raised helm, switches are set into a machined billet panel that looks lifted from a high-end ski boat. The lid to the optional in-floor ski locker is supported open by a gas strut. Forward, seat bases on the more than 4-foot-long parallel lounges are secured on clever, two-part hinges that allow them to pivot both out and down for easy access to the contents within.
And then there’s Manitou’s legendary performance. Manitou’s Sport Handling Package (SHP) gives the Legacy the banking turning style of a V-hull. The approach is one of the most dramatic in the industry. Twin, 23-inch pontoons flank a 27-inch center tube, which is dropped a full 5¼ inches deeper into the water to give the boat a pronounced deadrise. Positive-angle strakes are added to both the inner and outer sides of all three pontoons to add lift and stability. The package also includes an aluminum underskin to cover the cross members and reduce drag, and power-assist hydraulic steering to enhance driver control. The result is a boat nimble enough to receive an American Water Ski Association certification and, with an Evinrude 300 E-TEC on the stern, powerful enough to run with the quickest ’toons on the water. We recorded a time to plane of 4.3 seconds and a top speed of 49.2 mph.
