Coast Guard Rescues Three From Sinking Boat Near Galveston, Texas

HOUSTON — The Coast Guard rescued three boaters after their vessel capsized near Galveston, Texas, Monday afternoon.

Sector Houston-Galveston watchstanders received a mayday notification over Channel 16 from the owner of a 24-foot recreational vessel that he was taking on water near the Galveston jetties.

A Station Galveston 45-foot Response Boat-Medium boat crew was launched and arrived on scene to find all three boaters clinging to the hull of the recreational vessel. All three boaters were given life jackets and transferred on board.

The boaters were transported to Galveston Yacht Basin with no medical concerns.

The owner of the vessel will coordinate salvage efforts.
