Mercury Racing introduces new graphics for its 250XS and 300XS outboards. The motors continue to be popular among performance enthusiasts from bass boaters to owners of outboard-powered catamarans. They provide a coveted combination of light weight, torque and power, which makes the motors a great fit for older outboard-powered performance hulls.
The 250XS has a powerful past. The low-emissions two-stroke outboard was a game changer from the time it was introduced. It outperformed competitive 250 hp engines in a number of categories, and it holds an American Power Boat Association Pro Stock Bass World Kilo Speed Record. The 250XS comes standard with a Sport Master gear case that’s designed for lighter hulls capable of speeds exceeding 85 mph. It has a crescent leading edge housing with low-water pickups. This lets the 250XS run at elevated transom heights for maximum engine rpm, hydrodynamic efficiency and top-end speeds.
The 300XS is Mercury Racing’s most successful two-stroke consumer outboard. It’s available in 20-, 25- and 30-inch midsections. A custom-designed exhaust adapter plate with built in appendages for mounting aftermarket steering wing plates lets the motor be used safely on multiengine catamarans and V-bottoms. Offshore models of the 300XS come standard with a heavy-duty swivel/clamp bracket assembly and trim cylinder. The race-proven remote-mounted trim pump provides a quicker trim-out speed and enhanced durability.
Mercury offers a number of gear-case options with the 300XS. Models with the 20-inch midsection can be paired with the Torque Master II and Sport Master lower units. Both feature purpose-built housings with race-duty heavy-duty components. Applications include single-engine bass, flats and bay boats as well as catamaran and V-bottom sport boats.
The Torque Master II and Sport Master gear cases are available with 1.62:1 or 1.75:1 gear ratios. The Torque Master II is designed for single-engine applications in right-hand applications.
Mercury has a number of propellers designed specifically for the 250XS and 300XS, including the Pro Max, Lightning E.T., Bravo 1 XS and Bravo 1 OC.
