In the wake of the death of his son, Outerlimits Offshore Powerboats founder Mike Fiore, Paul Fiore and the crew at the performance-boat manufacturer have been busy developing new models. The first SL40 is being built with twin Mercury Racing HP700 SCis with Dry Sump Six drives. Fiore projects that the boat will run 100 mph with the test power. “We didn’t want to put giant power in it,” he said.
The SL40 rides on the same five-step bottom as the SV40 race boat, and Paul Fiore refined the design so that the pleasure version will be more manageable for a more diverse group of boaters. “We made it more driveable at 100 mph,” said Fiore. Retail pricing starts at $471,033 with a pair of Mercury 520s and Bravo sterndrives.
The SL40 features a center-cabin entry. Belowdecks, you’ll find stand-up headroom and a private head with sleeping space for two on a comfortable berth. Learn more at www.outerlimitspowerboats.com.
