Seven Marine introduced its new high-performance outboard, the 627, at the 2015 Miami International Boat Show. In besting its already impressive 557 by 70 horsepower (while using the same GM LSA 6.2-liter supercharged block), Seven Marine continues to carry the crown of “world’s most powerful outboard.”

Seven Marine 557
The previous holder of the “world’s most powerful outboard” title, the 557 had the boating industry abuzz when it was unwrapped at the 2011 Miami International Boat Show. GM’s 6.2 L S/C LSA V8 from the Cadillac CTS-V provides the foundation of the motor that’s rated at 557 horsepower and 550 pound-feet of torque.

Mercury Racing 1550
Mercury Racing recently debuted its most powerful consumer engine to date in the 1550. This sterndrive features dual calibration technology where the user can get all 1,550 horsepower by running 112 AKI race fuel, or run 91 octane fuel and have 1,350 horsepower on tap.
