Roar n’ Soar Showcases Speed-Defying Stunts of Racing Boats

Two-day racing extravaganza of classic air, land and sea vehicles returns to Fantasy of Flight for fifth year.

Fantasy of Flight, Central Florida’s premier aviation attraction, is putting the “Wow!” factor back into Polk County with its Fifth Annual Roar n’ Soar, a signature two-day racing extravaganza showcasing the finest classic racing machines ever built for land, sea or air.

The All-American-themed, family event returns for its fifth year with an even more thrilling, jam-packed roster of events, including hair-rising aerial demonstrations, nail-biting classic car slalom competitions, exhibition fly-bys from sleek vintage race boats, an aerial “dog fight” by powered paragliders, and an exciting sports showcase featuring skilled motocross riders. Meanwhile, the classic boat show and regatta, and classic car show provide entertainment for the slightly more faint of heart.

Roar n’ Soar revs into Fantasy of Flight on Sat., Nov. 12 and Sun., Nov. 13 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. (gates open at 9 a.m.) at the attraction’s spacious lakefront grounds and airfield in Polk City, Fla., midway between Orlando and Tampa. Tickets are on sale now for the family-oriented event.

Throughout the two-day festival, the best of the best in the world of aviation will perform heart-stopping precision aerial maneuvers featuring the “World’s Greatest Aircraft Collection”™ including the Grumman Duck, P51-C and T-6 Texan. The daring pilots who fly these sometimes temperamental beauties will be on hand between flights to greet guests and inspire the dreams of future pilots of all ages.

Meanwhile, classic car lovers will enjoy a stroll through the Rare, Antique, Classic & Exotic Car Show, marveling at classic and one-of-a-kind luxury automobiles including Jaguar, Austin-Healy, Ferrari, BMW and Porsche. These stunning cars aren’t just for show — many of them feature the horsepower and torque to kick up some dust in the sanctioned Jaguar Slalom competition, in which drivers of all types of classic cars will test their mettle by maneuvering through a cone-lined course on the hangar tarmac. Prime viewing spots along the course ensure that spectators won’t miss a second of the engine-revving action.

Vintage race boats are just as plentiful at Roar n’ Soar, where the Classic Race Boat Association is hosting as many as 50 of the most elegant and powerful race boats ever built in exhibition fly-bys on the mile-and-a-half-course along scenic Lake Agnes. Boats and their drivers will be available between runs to meet with guests and take photos.
