The new Splendor 220 Odyssey I/O stands as one of the most uncommon deck boats on the market today. Powered by a single 260 hp MerCruiser SeaCore-equipped 5.0-liter MPI V-8 with a Bravo Three drive in Splendor’s specially engineered center pod, this catamaran hull banks inwardly into turns like a V-hull at speed. The same design rides very smoothly in choppy water.
At rest, you and your guests benefit from the stability of the twin-sponson hull. The catamaran design also creates more interior space, particularly in the bow, where Splendor has designed an expansive area with twin loungers that convert to U-shaped seating with the addition of an optional forward filler cushion.
You’ll also find a telescoping boarding ladder concealed under the spacious bow platform for those days when you want to pull up to shore and explore the beach. Hatches under the backrests forward of each console allow you to access massive storage areas inside each for stowing bulky items.
The 220 has twin swiveling bucket seats for the starboard-side helm and portside console. Both consoles are decked out with simulated wood-grain panels. The helm features contoured chrome-bezel instrumentation, a Livorsi chrome steering wheel with padded vinyl grips, a tilt helm and a conveniently placed row of rocker switches to the right. Our test also featured the optional snap-in aqua mat for the deck.
A motorized hatch lets you easily access the engine compartment, with gobs of room inside for servicing the engine and other systems. In the port quarter a forward-facing lounger lets you stretch out, and there’s a comfy bench seat for two forward of the engine hatch. A walk-through door in the starboard quarter leads to the integral aft swim platform.
