Garnering nods of appreciation from anglers as well as boaters seeking luxury and performance alike, Formula’s 457 CCF delivers the goods.
On the angling front, its huge self-bailing cockpit is fitted and equipped to battle the big ones. Boarding doors port and starboard swing on massive chromed stainless-steel hinges, and twin blue-gelcoated livewells grace the transom. Look up to see Gemlux 22-foot outriggers. The cockpit rigging station/wet bar offers a slide-away mezzanine bench, full Corian countertop/rigging station, removable cutting board, sink, Plano tackle-box organizer, drawer storage and more. The dual-voltage drawer refrigerator-freezer can chill bait, drinks or both. There’s plenty of insulated fish boxes underfoot. Opt for the upper station, complete with controls, electronics and its own hardtop. The optional SureShade thwarts hot sun.
In the bow, find a deep, plush lounge as well as dual chaises on the front of the console. Under the curvaceous hardtop, find two rows of seating. Air conditioning powered by the standard genset keeps these cool. Or allow breeze in with the standard electric-opening windshield. For wind protection, the 457 CCF’s rigid side wings deploy between the console and the hullsides to keep wind at bay.
Belowdecks, we found designer style and a ton of function. This cabin, with an enclosed head and shower, is well-lit, air-conditioned and offers plenty of headroom.
At the helm, teak accents blend with flush-mounted big screens. Air conditioning is ducted here, and its raised location provides excellent visibility.
The 457 CCF runs on Formula’s FAS3Tech hull, which proves quick, nimble, and adroit at smoothing the water. With its foam-filled, continuous molded structural grid, it feels solid underfoot. The triple 600s powering our test boat delivered 57 mph at wide-open throttle. Notably, these engines are super-quiet, making long runs easy on the ears. Mercury’s JPO joystick minimizes docking stress.
Seeking a boat that scratches the itch to fish and does so while satisfying your desire for top quality and luxury? Sea-trial a Formula 457 CCF.
