The all-new Lynx STS is fast. Everyone’s first question—how fast? On test day, our best was 72.6 mph at 6,150 rpm. In more favorable conditions 76 mph has been achieved. A 60-gallon fuel tank gives it a range of nearly 200 miles with 10 percent in reserve for safety. We wrung the best out of the Lynx in the late morning wind chop and general lake soup of passing boat wakes, and experienced a solid ride with excellent control.
The foredeck layout features a much larger center-storage locker, unique to the Lynx, that’s fitted with a two-level modular tackle-storage system. It’s flanked on each side by storage boxes, the port side for rods and starboard for general storage. Also unique to the Lynx is a new day-storage box located directly in front of the driver’s console. The large bow panel permits ultimate customizing; three graphs can be mounted with a combination of flush-fitting and bracketed displays. A recessed trolling-motor pedal tray features a removable block for fore or aft pedal placement options to accommodate anglers who like to fish up front or back a bit. Built-in padded rod ramps adorn each gunwale. A center step up to the foredeck houses a cooler underneath.
A sculpted console is fitted with a flush-mounted optional 12-inch multifunction display that incorporates engine data as well as GPS and maps. Tilt hydraulic steering is standard, with an optional Bob’s Machine Shop hydraulic setback jack plate. A center console between the seats houses a glove box with a cooler underneath. Billet grab bars are located port and starboard within easy reach. An optional fitted navigator console can be added at the time of purchase or after to make the boat a dual-console. It’s nifty; the console can be installed or removed in just a few minutes.
Out back, Bass Cat’s tried-and-true triangular-shaped livewells are engineered to keep water from sloshing, with healthier fish as a result. Small triangular day-storage boxes are located just behind the livewells, with larger dry storage compartments on each side. Easy access to pumps, screens and rigging is under twin hatches at the transom.
