For all of a pontoon’s big comfy couches, Viaggio notes passengers often fight over one unexpected seat—the co-captain’s chair. With its supportive armrests and personal space, it’s a favorite amongst couples, families and seniors. The Lago X22Q gives buyers not just one but four of them. Joining the helm seat, a trio of additional chairs occupy much of the surrounding deck. Passengers can face forward when under way, aft to keep tabs on watersports action, or swivel inward to gather around drinks at a pedestal table. Parallel couches forward await those who prefer to get cozy or stretch their legs. Aft, single extra-wide bench seats flank the boarding gate. Step out and note a larger-than-average 2-foot-deep swim deck great for water activities. An optional Lillipad boarding ladder is a smart upgrade, easing young and old aboard with its broad steps and gentle incline.
Storage is found within the vinyl-covered, roto-molded bases below bow and stern seats, within the helm console and a two-door cabinet adjacent to the port gate outfitted with pet dishes, a paper towel holder and trash can. A 10-foot black-anodized Bimini overhead raises at the touch of a button and keeps much of the primary seating in shaded comfort. A lockable, in-floor locker takes advantage of the center tube’s square footage to stow water toys and larger items; a gas strut keeps the lid open when loading contents.
An upgraded helm greets the captain. Wrapped in vinyl and topped with a classy glass windscreen, it features 5-inch multifunction gauges that mix analog style with digital info insets. Rocker switches have been swapped out for sleek, backlit push buttons. USB and 12-volt outlets are within easy reach but a wireless charging cubby is an option to consider.
Power onto plane and the Lago displays Viaggio’s typical solid feel and the confident handling provided by a trio of 25-inch-diameter pontoons with performance strakes. Our test boat’s 200 hp Suzuki paired well with the Lago X’s overall bang-for-the-buck theme, powering the boat to a top speed of 39 mph while sipping a minimal 4 gph at a comfortable 16-mph cruise.
