Scarab 195 HO Jet Boat
Scarab, one of the most venerable names in the history of performance boats, is making a comeback as a line of jet boats. Rec Boat Holdings announced today the introduction of a new line of boats from 16-24 feet that will be powered by BRP Rotax 4-TEC 1503 jet propulsion systems ranging from 140-240 horsepower.
Expect the lineup to live up to the Scarab name. “The boats will look more aggressive but will be very well laid out for family purposes,” said Roch Lambert, the Group President of Rec Holdings. “They will definitely have a sportier look with more horsepower available [than other jet boats on the market].”
The smaller boats will have single-engine configurations, while the 21-footer will offer the choice of single or twin engines. The 24-footer will come with standard with twin engines.
Rec holdings has been testing prototypes of the boats since January and plans to have the first editions available to the public by late summer or early fall. Pricing has not been determined yet but will be competative with other jet boats on the market.
Rec Holdings also plans to introduce two jet versions of the popular Glastron GT models. The Scarab jet line of boats will be a standalone brand. The Wellcraft Scarab line of performance center consoles will be renamed “Scarab Offshore,” and remain separate.
