Today’s multifunction displays serve as command centers for marine electronic networks, capable of blinding processing speeds and providing a world of information in HD color to monitor and control multiple systems simultaneously. Here are the latest.
Furuno
Furuno’s new TZtouchE series is designed with affordability in mind. It includes 9- and 13-inch versions featuring technology such as chart plotting, TruEcho chirp sonar, and Continuous Wave sonar, as well as chirp side-scan functionality.
They network with NavNet DRS dome radar models and support Furuno’s most powerful sonar modules, including DFF3D Multibeam Sonar, CSH10 Omni Sonar, and DFF series. They also unlock navigational tools such as Risk Visualizer and AI Avoidance Route.
TZtouchE units come with NOAA vector charts for the coastal US. Optional Furuno Z Maps with high-resolution BathyVision can be purchased for $263 from Furno through the MFD. Starting at $2,195 for TZT9E and $3,095 for the TZT13E; furunousa.com.
Garmin GPSMap 9000xsv
Garmin’s new GPSMap 9000xsv MFD series is available in 10-, 13- or 17-inch touchscreen models. The latter two feature 4K resolution, as well as improved brightness and greater contrast.
All incorporate UHD scanning sonar, built-in xChirp and RapidReturn, allowing for up to twice the sonar update rate—a critical advantage when swordfishing or deep-dropping.
Each is preloaded with Garmin Navionics+ charts with Auto Guidance+ technology, as well as OneHelm digital switching that supports the Garmin EmpirBus systems and other control solutions.
Garmin’s edge-to-edge design flush-mounts into almost any boat helm. The 5G Wi-Fi connectivity enables seamless software and map updates. Boaters also can build networks with multiple chart plotters, cameras, radars and sonars, and enjoy gigabit speeds on the Garmin BlueNet network. Prices begin at $3,199.99; garmin.com/marine.
Raymarine Axiom 2
The new Axiom 2 MFDs from Raymarine combine a six‑core processor, next‑generation LightHouse charts, HydroTough nano-coated displays, and expanded app and engine integration.
The 7-, 9- and 12-inch MFDs are available in non-sonar versions, as well as models with built-in 600-watt sonar, plus Raymarine’s award-winning RealVision sonar and imaging, which includes high-frequency chirp sonar, along with DownVision and SideVision paired with RealVision 3D will offer a full-picture view of the underwater world.
Axiom 2 comes with LightHouse Gen 2 charts, and the enhanced processor offers 30 percent faster chart speeds. The high-speed gigabit networking integrates chart plotting, sonar, radar, autopilot and video. Upgraded memory allows access to more than 30 mobile apps for entertainment, weather, lighting, and vessel monitoring. Prices start at $1,199; raymarine.com.

Simrad NSO 4
Simrad marks it 80th anniversary with the launch of the new NSO 4 series, featuring the Neon operating system. NSO 4 comes in 16-, 22- and 24-inch touchscreen displays. Glass-to-edge screens feature SolarMAX IPS technology to enhance viewing in harsh sunlight and at side angles.
Each model is powered by a Qualcomm 8-core processor that results in nearly instant responsiveness and 35 percent faster boot-up times, 10 times quicker auto-routing, and eight times more storage versus Simrad’s previous NSO evo3S MFDs.
NSO 4 integrates with all of Simrad’s radar, sonar, and engine-monitoring systems. They support multiple sonar modules and FishCast powered by Roffs forecasts. NSO 4 includes auto-routing, chart safety alerts and the latest AutoTrack Radar target tracking feature. These MFDs can also control lighting, audio, and trolling motors from a single screen.
NSO 4 pairs with C-Map Discover X and Reveal X charts. The X-Chart Manager enables direct chart updates via internet connection and custom area selection for those exploring new waters. NSO 4 is also compatible with third-party charts such as Cmor Mapping, StrikeLines and Standard Mapping. Pricing starts at $6,499; simard-yachting.com.
