The XStar S offers pro-performance capabilities like its sibling, with 200 extra pounds of internal ballast and new transom chaise-style lounge seats.
With the new SurfStar system engaged, the XStar S boasts 4,300 pounds of ballast to help produce clean, endlessly rideable wakes and waves. Integrated user profiles make it simple to get started riding, while a sliding scale on the touchscreen display allows for easy customization. Slide the scale down to 1 to stretch the wave and mellow its face. Slide it up to 7 for maximum height and vert. Additionally, surf plates mounted at each transom corner can be individually tweaked to modify wave characteristics. With all this, the XStar S is equally great for families just getting started as for experienced riders dialing in a wave exactly how they like it.
MasterCraft utilizes comfortable, supple seating materials. Add in the optional CoolFeel vinyl and your seats won’t get scorching hot under a blazing sun. Seating is customizable with the convertible rear bench, which is not only comfortable, but also one of the easiest to operate that we’ve tested. But the star of the comfort show on the XStar S is the pair of transom chaise-style loungers. With extendable head- and footrests, the seats feel similar to a recliner, in both angle and comfort. Enjoy!
At the helm, the captain is treated to MasterCraft’s dual-screen setup. The center screen displays all the XStar S’s vitals, while the large touchscreen to the right provides intuitive access to menus and systems. With a couple of finger taps, it’s easy to adjust ballast, speed control, music and more. Optional with the XStar S is a powerful stern thruster that can spin the boat in a full 360 in under 30 seconds—and with controls integrated into the throttle, it’s simple to use.
Our test model featured MasterCraft’s new Hydrolock tower with electronically actuated solenoids. Push and hold a button on top of the tower, and it easily lowers or raises manually. Release the button, and the tower locks into place, making it extra-safe.
Top to bottom, the XStar S combines luxury and performance in a 23-foot package that should check the boxes for even the most discerning buyers.
