Starcraft’s SVX 191 OB is a multitasker: It’s a family runabout, water-toy-towing platform, and lake cruiser with plenty of power, speed and space to accommodate most families for fun-packed days on the water. With a Suzuki 150 outboard, it zipped to 30 mph in 6 seconds, topping out at 6,000 rpm and 42 mph. With its 45-gallon fuel tank, it has a range of 180 miles with 10 percent in reserve at a most economical cruise speed of 24 mph and 3,500 rpm, where it’s sipping fuel at 5.4 gph—that’s 4.4 mpg.
The 14-degree hull deadrise gives the fiberglass hull wave-slicing ride capability, with sharp and precise turning even at higher speeds during our test runs. Mashing over afternoon wind-blown lake chop and passing boat wakes at speeds in the upper-30-mph range are this hull’s forte; it gives a comfortable ride, and its 45-gallon fuel tank provides plenty of range for a day on the lake.
Topside, the SVX features an open-floorplan design. In the bow, an extended foredeck makes boarding easy. An anchor locker with forward boarding ladder is featured here. Soft-touch EVA Marine Mat flooring is fitted throughout the boat, making for easy cleanup and a fresh look.
Up front, twin facing benches can each seat three passengers, with storage underneath. Upholstery is a two-tone grey and black, with cool-touch vinyl that keeps the seats from getting hot in the sun. Along the port side, the bench seating continues all the way to the stern, interrupted amidships by a small backrest/storage console. After, it continues to the stern, curving inward in an L-shape all the way across with a narrow egress passage to the aft deck. An in-floor storage locker is standard. A Bimini top is standard.
The captain’s console features a smoked Lexan windscreen, electronic analog gauges, and standard SeaStar tilt-helm hydraulic steering, along with a standard Wet Sounds Bluetooth stereo to crank your tunes on the water and a 5-inch Helix digital dash display.
The aft deck is separated from the cockpit and features a watersports tow bar and folding stainless-steel boarding ladder for easy reboarding.
