Is it a personal watercraft or is it a fishing skiff? The new Yamaha CrossWave has the hull, profile and saddle seating of a WaveRunner combined with a wide beam and deck designed to be a multi-angler casting platform. While there are other PWC designed for fishing, Yamaha touts the CrossWave as the walkaround PWC.
The first thing that sets the CrossWave apart is its size. Its 12 feet, 11 inches length overall and 5-foot-7-inch beam make it longer and wider than traditional PWC, providing space and stability to use as a casting platform. Its signature feature is a full walkaround layout with a flat, marine-matted deck, allowing for 360-degree mobility. It is the only PWC designed to carry up to four passengers, featuring removable third and fourth seats that convert the stern into an open deck. Storage capacity is a standout at 82 gallons, which includes a dedicated anchor locker, a rod storage compartment, and dual in-hull stern compartments.
With these layout features, we’d bet that at least some owners will use the Yamaha CrossWave for beach jaunts and sunset cruises, as well as for fishing.
The helm features a floating console with dual 7-inch touchscreen displays: Yamaha’s Connext system and a Simrad NSX chart plotter/fish finder. Integrated Bluetooth speakers come standard. To power these electronics and other accessories, the CrossWave is the first PWC prewired for a Group 24 deep-cycle marine battery with a built-in battery switch.
Another industry first is its patented cleanout port, adapted from Yamaha’s jet boats, which allows riders to clear pump debris without entering the water. The CrossWave is powered by Yamaha’s 1.9L High Output Marine Engine, the largest displacement engine in the PWC industry, rated at 200 horsepower.
The deck is lined with a cool T-Track system for mounting accessories. The CrossWave comes in a single, fully equipped configuration that includes a custom trailer and a 55-quart cooler. The CrossWave will arrive at dealerships in Spring 2026, with pricing to come soon.
