Forward-facing sonar has revolutionized fishing, allowing anglers to “see” fish in real time up to 100 feet away from the boat. Transducers for systems such as Humminbird’s Mega Live Imaging have traditionally mounted on a trolling motor. But now there’s a device that lets anglers aim the transducer independently of the trolling motor.

Humminbird’s Mega Live Hand Control allows anglers to utilize forward-facing sonar on any vessel with or without a trolling motor. It is based on the GeigerTec CNC-machined billet aluminum hand control with an adjustable mount and a 50-inch transducer shaft. It can be mounted virtually anywhere on the boat.

Anglers can mount the transducer on the hand control in Forward Mode for partial coverage below the boat and out in front of the boat; Down Mode for a full view below the boat; and Landscape Mode for a wide, top-down view out and around the boat. With this system, anglers no longer need to choose between steering the trolling motor in one direction or aiming the transducer in another. Adding the hand control allows them to do both at the same time.

It also allows anglers to more easily transfer their Mega Live Imaging transducer to another boat, be it a second boat or a buddy’s boat.

The hand-control system comes with a Mega Live Imaging transducer; an adjustable mounting arm, shaft and handle; an Ethernet cable; a power cable; and mounting hardware. The system can be mounted directly to the boat, but it will also fit securely into a Cannon mounting track.

Humminbird’s Mega Live Imaging system is compatible with all of the brand’s Apex and Solix models, as well as the Helix 8-12 G3N Mega SI or MEGA DI models, and 7-15 G4N Mega SI or Mega DI model units. The hand control carries a two-year limited warranty and retails for $2,049.99, including the Mega Live Imaging transducer. Visit humminbird.johnsonoutdoors.com for info.
