Why consider a flybridge for your next boat purchase? After spending a day aboard Regal’s 38 FXO, a better question might be: why wouldn’t you consider a flybridge? The panoramic views alone make a compelling argument, but this boat offers far more than just elevated sightlines.
Designed to seamlessly balance cruising, overnighting, and sandbar entertaining, the Regal 38 FXO provides a remarkably complete package for small families and cruising couples.
Command from Above (and Below)
From the flybridge, the captain gains enhanced sightlines, ideal for navigating tight channels or tricky marina spaces. The upper helm features dual 16-inch Garmin displays, Yamaha digital throttle and shift controls, and a standard bow thruster that can be integrated into a joystick control system. Every essential control available at the lower helm is fully duplicated above.
Regal’s digital interface allows full operational oversight right from the Garmin screens. Captains can monitor and adjust the boat’s status in real time—raising or lowering hatches, deploying overhead drop-down TVs, toggling cabin lights, or adjusting windows—with visual status updates reflected directly on screen.
Up top, passengers can soak in the sun or open the standard Bimini top for complete shade over the bridge. An L-shaped wraparound lounge with under-seat storage and a pedestal table creates a spacious social area for dining and drinks high above the water.
Outboard Power and Cockpit Living
The test vessel came equipped with triple Yamaha 350 outboards, delivering strong performance while maintaining usable deck space. Regal smartly engineered the layout so the engines do not encroach on the swim platform, leaving ample room to walk across the stern. Broad side wings facilitate safe boarding from both floating and fixed docks. Two large transom lockers provide ample storage for wet gear.
In the aft cockpit, entertaining remains a focus:
- Seating & Shade: A long couch accommodates multiple adults comfortably.
- Wet Bar: The portside wet bar features a Corian countertop, electric grill, trash receptacle, and a pull-out drawer refrigerator.
- Entertainment: A Garmin display in the cockpit controls boat functions, including a flat-screen TV that drops down from the hardtop.
When weather conditions demand climate control, the salon door and aft window close off tightly to create an air-conditioned haven.
A Seamless Salon and Lower Helm
Inside the main deck, the galley bridges the indoor and outdoor spaces. It comes appointed with a freshwater sink, a two-burner stove, a two-drawer refrigerator (with a freezer option), a microwave, and pull-out storage. Opposite the galley, the salon offers a starboard settee and a portside L-shaped lounge with a removable pedestal table that stows neatly behind the seat backrest.
The main-deck helm mirrors the technology found on the flybridge, adding a few functional upgrades:
- Twin 16-inch Garmin touchscreens
- Digital throttle, shift, and joystick controls
- Humphree interceptor system for automated pitch and yaw stabilization
- Electronically adjustable helm seat with a folding teak footrest
- Integrated magnetic wireless phone charger
- Drop-down overhead television
Accommodations Built for Overnighting
Stepping down into the lower cabin area reveals an atrium-style design flooded with natural light from the windshield overhead.
Forward Owner’s Stateroom:
The forward stateroom is centered around a walk-around island berth, ensuring neither partner has to climb over the other at night. Features include side ledges with USB/power outlets, two large under-bed drawers, a lift-up bed platform for larger items, a cedar-lined hanging locker, a flat-screen TV, and a frosted privacy door.
Split Head Layout:
Regal separates the head compartment from the shower stall. The dry head compartment houses a porcelain sink, flushing toilet, mirror, and cabinetry. Directly across, the dedicated shower compartment includes a rainfall showerhead and teak flooring/seating. This split configuration allows two people to get ready simultaneously while keeping the wet and dry spaces apart.
Versatile Mid-Cabin:
The mid-cabin layout features a king-size bed that easily splits into two twin berths—offering flexibility for guests or children. The space includes an additional flat-screen TV, multiple hanging lockers, drawer storage, and a dedicated settee.
Foredeck Relaxation
At the bow, a large sun pad offers flexible seating. A foldable Bimini provides overhead shade when needed, while flip-up backrests allow passengers to face forward comfortably while underway. A flat forward deck area gives the captain clear, stable access to operate the windlass and manage the anchor.
Whether anchored at the sandbar, undertaking extended coastal cruises, or entertaining dockside, Regal’s 38 FXO blends top-tier flybridge functionality with lower-deck luxury.
